President William Ruto has announced that the government will be announcing the tendering works for the Nairobi-Mombasa Expressway following a long wait for the construction works to begin on the busy road section in the next few days. Speaking during the Kenya International Investment Conference at the KICC in Nairobi on Wednesday, March 25, the President announced that the tendering works and construction will align with the government’s pursuit of turning Kenya into an industrial nation. Meanwhile, the 459km expressway dubbed Usahihi Nairobi-Mombasa Expressway will connect Kenya’s capital to its main port city, reducing travel time between Nairobi and Mombasa from more than 10 hours to around five.
