SC to hear plea to delay release of Padmavati (now outside India)

New Delhi, Nov. 23 (Agencies): The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to hear on November 28 a fresh petition seeking a direction to makers of the film Padmavati not to release it outside India on December 1. The producers have said the film has no such scenes showing Padmavati and the Muslim ruler Alauddin Khilji. Sharma alleged that grave damage would be done to social harmony if the movie were to be released outside India. Viacom 18, the makers of the film, has already deferred the release of the film, originally scheduled for December 1. The set of the movie was vandalised twice—in Jaipur and Kolhapur—and members of the Karni Sena had roughed up director Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the Jaipur schedule of the film earlier this year.
