“The Mall of Asia and Araneta Coliseum cannot give us the whole date of the SEA Games,” Suzara told The STAR. Due to a suspension by FIBA, the Philippines did not include basketball in the 2005 Manila SEA Games calendar. Originally, everybody had hoped that basketball in this year’s SEA Games would be staged either at the MOA Arena or Smart Araneta Coliseum. Volleyball competitions will be staged at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City when originally it had hoped to get the Smart Araneta Coliseum as venue. Basketball and volleyball, particularly women’s volleyball, are expected to draw the biggest crowd in this year’s SEA Games.
