SEC Chair Says He's Pushing For More IPOs To Keep Main Street Investors From Missing Out On Growth


Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Jay Clayton said today he is pushing for more IPOs because he is worried main street investors are missing out on the growth part of development of emerging companies. Public companies "are the most efficient way for investors to invest,” said Clayton. The SEC Chair gave three reasons why he has made it a priority to have the Commission clarify the standard of conduct owed to investors by investment advisors and broker-dealers:--- Clarity. ---Enhanced protection, Clayton said if there are areas where protection is lacking, the gap should be eliminated. He added with changes in the markets the Clayton SEC must be nimble and forward looking.
