The Women’s Front of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) today made five proposals to be implemented in lieu of the International Women’s Day including one proposal to urge immediate action against the cases of child abuse. The Women’s Front have requested that cases of child abuse should be taken up immediately by the National Child Protection Authority and that necessary action be taken to ensure the immediate security of the child. They also requested that cases of harassment in youth detention centers should be investigated immediately and plausible solutions should be given for the safety of the children. The SLFP Women’s Front further requested higher representation of women in politics at provincial and district levels. The other two proposals were focused on eradicating road traffic accidents through implementation of new road rules and requesting public support to curb the deforestation crisis in the country.
