The programme was initiated in September 2020 last year, parallel to the National Literacy Month with the intention of providing books for needy schools. Senior Management of SLT-MOBITEL, Staff of the Regional Telecom Office, Nuwara Eliya, and the Principal, Teachers and Students of the school participated in the programme. SLT-MOBITEL understands that every book has the potential to change a child’s life and the Book Donation initiative helps them explore, learn and broaden their knowledge. As the ‘Hithak Athnam Pothak Denna’ programme gains momentum SLT-MOBITEL invites more individuals to join the campaign in donating books. SLT-MOBITEL has established book collecting centers at the Sri Lanka Telecom Head Office in Fort and at SLT-MOBITEL Teleshops island-wide, for the public to donate books for the ongoing ‘Hithak Athnam Pothak Denna’ book donation programme.
