As SM Entertainment rides the Hallyu WayV into the Chinese market, the K-pop giant announced a partnership with one of the region’s biggest players: Tencent Music Entertainment. To recap, the companies announced on Jan. 30 that they entered into a strategic partnership for music distribution and marketing in the Chinese music market. Tencent Music Entertainment (TME) happens to be the industry leader with over 800 million monthly users across four of the top music service platforms in China: QQ Music, KUGOU Music, KUWO Music and Wesing. The K-pop empire’s entire catalogue of music and videos will be made available through QQ Music, KUGOU Music and KUWO Music. “Through this partnership, SM is able to establish our presence furthermore within the Chinese market,” the rep said.
