SNC-Lavalin: Did Justin Trudeau break the law?

It’s increasingly clear that Canada isn’t particularly happy with Justin Trudeau for allegedly trying to interfere with the prosecution of SNC-Lavalin. Like it or not, the Prime Minister can fire whoever he wants at any timeIt’s a detail Canadians may prefer to ignore, but the prime minister of a majority Canadian government is one of the most powerful single positions in the democratic world. In a reference decision, the Supreme Court agreed and mandated that judicial salaries would henceforth need to be set by independent commissions. Justin Trudeau only gets to remain prime minister because he commands the confidence of the House of Commons. If a majority of MPs decides they don’t want Trudeau as prime minister any more, he can be turfed out.
