The Scottish Government has been urged to hurry up their decision-making process on whether to implement a ban on "dangerous" Bully XL dogs north of the border. But banning breeds of dogs is a devolved power, meaning that Scottish ministers will decide themselves whether to follow suit and implement the new legislation. However, according to a UK Government source, Whitehall are becoming frustrated at the lack of progress or definitive decision from the SNP. Mr Gove would like Scottish ministers to engage with the work done by Whitehall officials and make a decision as soon as possible to "ensure people, wherever they live, are protected from serious risk." Ministers will still need to agree to the ban north of the border.
