SNP announced flagship anti-poverty measure without prior planning forcing it to scrap it just a year later

The SNP Government announced a "flagship" plan to help battle child poverty but failed to find out whether they could actually implement it. Ministers pledged to create a £15m Parental Transition Fund in 2022 but scrapped it just a year later. The Parental Transition Fund was included in their March 2022 publication "Best Start, Bright Futures: tackling child poverty delivery plan 2022 to 2026." They asked for "consideration of proposed grant to help with upfront childcare costs." And whole idea was almost rendered pointless when Jeremy Hunt announced in the 2023 Spring Statement that there would be support given with upfront childcare costs through Universal Credit.
