The SNP Government have been accused of operating under a "veil of secrecy" after refusing to confirm whether a key document about its disastrous Covid care home policy had been supplied to the public inquiry. It was previously revealed that the papers which suggested sending untested patients into residential homes were deleted from public view. This policy meant that older people suffering from the virus were placed in care homes despite being positive, and resulted in some sites being plagued with the disease. Despite this being blamed for thousands of deaths in care homes, it is not known whether the publication will be scrutinised by Covid Inquiry officials. The SNP Government have already been embroiled in criticism over its handling of requests from the Covid Inquiry, and failed to hand over WhatsApps when asked for them.
