The SNP administration has been blasted for presiding over a "national disgrace" after it was revealed that 244 people died while homeless in Scotland in 2022. The figure did drop a small amount since 2021, but according to National Records for Scotland (NRS) this is "not statistically significant." In terms of regions, Edinburgh, Western Isles, Glasgow and Stirling had the highest rates of homeless deaths per million population. It goes much wider than drug deaths, which have been a longstanding source of shame for this government. Matt Downie, chief executive of homelessness charity Crisis, said: "These figures are a national disgrace, but they are not at all surprising.
