KOTA MARUDU: A fireman was electrocuted in the line of duty while he was tackling a blaze along Jalan Lotong in Kampung Lotong here on Saturday (Dec 29). Kota Marudu fire officer (PB) Latif Muhamad Sabindo Latapa, 28, went temporarily numb from the electric shocks while putting out a house fire, but he survived. He received treatment at the Green Zone (for non-critical patients) of Hospital Kota Marudu and is now in stable condition. Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations chief Katizah Rahaban said eight firemen from the Kota Marudu station were deployed to the scene after a distress call was received at around 8.25pm. "The house was completely destroyed in the fire, and a vehicle was also damaged by the flames.
