Gen. Eric Holder, left, and Rep. Doris Matsui (D-Calif.) attend a reception at the White House in Washington on Sept. 23. Rep. Doris Matsui (D-Sacramento) will be released from a Washington hospital Friday after she was involved in a car crash earlier this week that caused internal bleeding and bruised ribs, a spokeswoman said Friday. Neither driver was injured, but Matsui, who was sitting in the back seat, was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. She had surgery to stop internal bleeding in her abdomen. Matsui had been scheduled to attend a fundraiser Sunday with Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine, the Sacramento Bee reported.
