But Khan made it clear that he was offended by Trump’s call for a ban on Muslims and claim that he would make an exception for the Labour politician. He said Trump’s ban on travellers from a number of Muslim-majority countries gave the “wrong impression” of the religion. Asked what the result was down to, Khan said: “Jeremy Corbyn.”He suggested that Labour had taken tips from The West Wing. “Let Jeremy be Jeremy,” he said, praising the manifesto, and the success in bringing back old Labour voters and energising young people. The London mayor stressed again that in terms of explaining the result, “the one thing above everything else [was] Jeremy”.
