Fragments of Saharan dust have been spotted on a Volvo in Exeter this afternoon, caused by southerly winds sweeping sand and dust all the way from North Africa to the UK. One Devonian, Edward Munn, spotted specs of what appears to be Saharan dust on his black car this afternoon. But, a rain shower in Exeter this afternoon appears to have brought some Saharan dust to Devon. "Saharan dust is relatively common in the UK often happening several times a year when big dust storms in the Sahara coincide with southerly wind patterns. "In certain weather situations, Saharan dust can also affect air pollution and pollution levels."
