The replacement footbridge over Saltwater Creek was installed in August 2019. A Nelson architectural firm has won an award for its work on the newly completed Saltwater Creek Bridge. JTB Architects was engaged by the Nelson City Council to design the structure, which was installed over the Maitai River in September 2019. At the NZ Wood Timber Design Awards, the designers won the Exterior Structure Design award for their detailing and use of timber in the design.
