TO celebrate and acknowledge the contributions of women in the state, the Penang government has launched a month-long celebration to commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD) 2021 which falls on Monday. State social development committee chairman Chong Eng said this was the ninth edition of the state-level celebrations since 2013. “The celebrations aim to highlight the achievements, contributions and sacrifices made by women for their families and community in various aspects, which include social, economic, cultural and political contributions. “This is a short video competition where we provide a platform for women to share their experiences involving their contributions, sacrifices or successes after facing a challenge. The programme, which was launched in October 2020, was started by the state to create a platform for women entrepreneurs to be successful.
