SEOUL, Jan 29, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics posted record quarterly profits on Thursday, riding strong market demand for its artificial intelligence chips. Annual revenue stood at 333.6 trillion won, while its operating profit came in at 43.6 trillion won, the firm said. Its memory business also posted an "all-time high for quarterly revenue and operating profit", it said. - HBM race -Samsung's strong earnings come as key competitor SK hynix also saw its operating profit double last year to a record high, buoyed by the AI boom. SK said on Wednesday its operating profit soared 101 percent to 47.2 trillion won last year.
