Samsung has announced it will discontinue its Samsung Messages service in July 2026, urging users to switch to Google Messages to access more advanced features, including improved cross-platform messaging between Android and iOS devices. Samsung USA said the move to discontinue Samsung Messages is part of a broader effort to streamline messaging services and enhance user experience through richer communication tools. Among its key features, Google Messages includes enhanced security systems designed to protect users from scams and spam. In addition, Google Messages introduces expressive AI-driven features that allow users to edit or remix images directly within the app. To migrate from Samsung Messages, users will be prompted to set Google Messages as their default SMS app upon first launch.
