Team owner Dean Spanos announced on Thursday plans for the Chargers to move to Los Angeles for the 2017 season. The San Diego Chargers on Thursday said the team is heading up the coast to Los Angeles, the country’s second-biggest market and a city that only last year welcomed the Rams from St. Louis. Two Chargers fans sit behind their sign during the second half of the Chargers vs. Kansas City game at Qualcomm Stadium on Jan. 1. “Relocation is painful for teams and communities.”Tell it to Jordan Friedman, a 40-year-old financial adviser in Los Angeles, who said the Chargers’ move has him “interminably conflicted.” Having grown up in San Diego, he said, he instinctively loathes Los Angeles sports teams. While having the Chargers in L.A. will be “way more convenient,” he said, “I will never wear an article of clothing that says Los Angeles Chargers on it.”
