Santander UK said it was ahead of its target on gaining small business customers SERGIO MORAES/REUTERSOne of Britain’s biggest banks said yesterday that it expected the economy to continue to perform well against the backdrop of Brexit as it announced a rise in third-quarter profits. Santander UK said that it was forecasting growth for the rest of the year, with inflation expected to continue to drop and wages to carry on rising. While noting that it remained cautious on the outlook for Britain, the Spanish-owned bank said: “We expect UK economic growth to improve slightly from the level seen in the first quarter of the year.”Santander UK, which was established in 2010, is one of Britain’s largest retail banks with more than four million customers. The UK is the Spanish lender’s third largest market, after Spain and Brazil.
