Eric Yap amid reports of an ouster plot against Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano. “For HNP, the ouster of Ungab was grossly unacceptable as it is disadvantageous to theDuterte administration’s reform agenda for the Filipino people and the country,” it added. Duterte-Carpio’s party endorsed Ungab for the Speaker’s post amid a tight race in the lower chamber’s leadership. The Davao mayor was among those credited for the ouster of Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez as speaker in 2018. Amid the raging controversy at the House, Cayetano gave assurances that he would honor the term-sharing agreement between him and Velasco.
