Former Alaska governor and vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin announced Friday that she is running for Congress. REP. DON YOUNG, ALASKA REPUBLICAN, DEAD AT 88"Today I’m announcing my candidacy for the U.S. House seat representing Alaska. Public service is a calling, and I would be honored to represent the men and women of Alaska in Congress, just as Rep. Young did for 49 years," Palin wrote. Palin added that "America is at a tipping point" and that she has "watched the far left destroy the country." Palin served as the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska from 1996 to 2002 before becoming the chair of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission in 2003.
