Smokers only have a few days left before they will have to butt out at SaskTel Centre permanently. Starting with the Saskatoon Blades' season opener on Saturday, the arena will close its outdoor smoking patio on the east side of the building. "The smoking area was the one area that was kind of a gap in that and we just want to have the building more secure," said SaskTel Centre spokeswoman Cheri Hamilton. 'Smoking is smoking and cannabis didn't raise the flag for us,' said Cherie Hamilton, a spokeswoman for SaskTel Centre. (CBC)She predicted SaskTel security guards will have to contend with more people smoking indoors, on top of alcohol-fuelled fights and "obnoxious" behaviour.
