Saudi-led coalition airstrike hit Yemen funeral, officials say

An airstrike by a Saudi-led coalition on Saturday targeted a funeral hall filled with mourners in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, killing at least 82 people and turning the site into a “lake of blood,” according to officials. In the aftermath of the strike, hundreds of body parts were found strewn in and outside the hall. Witnesses and medics said a missile hit the hall in the south of the capital, destroying the building. Saudi Arabia intervened in March 2015 to support the Yemeni government against Houthi rebels in control of Sana’a. The Houthi rebels are also accused of human rights violations including the use of landmines and indiscriminate shelling.
