When one of Peter Faustino’s students was having trouble sleeping a few weeks ago, the Westchester County, N.Y., school psychologist did what he would normally do with any of his high schoolers: try to have a conversation. But halfway through their session, the student unexpectedly hung up, said Dr. Faustino. Before the new coronavirus pandemic, he said he could have followed the student outside Scarsdale High School and checked on his well-being. But now, he was left staring at an empty Zoom screen.
