A government school teacher who allegedly raised slogans supporting Muhammad Ali Jinnah during a programme on Republic Day was arrested in Bihar’s Supaul district on Monday (January 26, 2026). Mansoor Alam was sent to judicial custody based on a complaint by the headmaster, Dhananjay Tiwari, of Middle High School, Kishanpur block. Mr. Tiwari also stated that, given the gravity of the situation, the SHO was immediately informed, after which the police arrived at the school. Villagers and guardians of students have expressed anger and urged the school administration to take strict action. The Bihar education department is mulling disciplinary action against the teacher and a departmental enquiry has also been ordered.
