Scots warned to make sure they do not miss out on £300 cost of living payment this winter

Scots are being urged to make sure they do not miss out on a potentially vital cost-of-living benefit this winter. The UK Government will make the lifeline payment of £300 for people in receipt of benefits like Universal Credit, Job Seekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance and Pension Credit. But Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) has raised concerns that some of the 834,276 Scots on benefits may miss out. CAS believes around 12,000 people start on Universal Credit in Scotland each month which means some will miss out on the Cost of Living payment. In one case a disabled woman was refused her cost-of-living payment and told she was not eligible despite being in receipt of Employment Support Allowance.
