Brazil won the gold medal in men’s soccer on Saturday in a penalty shootout over Germany when Neymar ripped a kick into the top-right corner. Not quite the same Germans, of course, for this is an under-23 tournament and the World Cup is not, but Germans, anyway. RelatedIt’s not the perfect redemption story, since this team only carried the metaphorical weight of the World Cup team’s disaster. Halftime cooled things off, but it didn’t make Brazil play much tighter on the defensive end. It’s not the World Cup, not even close to it.
