St Mary’s Primary School in Athlone welcomed Senator Lisa Chambers and local Deputy Robert Troy to the school on Thursday May 30 to raise its second Active Flag. The aim of the Active Flag initiative is for schools to be more active more often, while promoting health and wellbeing within the school community. During the ceremony, the student mayor and other pupils of the active school committee read speeches and recited a poem for the special guests. Senator Chambers is currently the Leader of Seanad Éireann and is a Fianna Fáil candidate for the upcoming European Elections.
