Patrick Nip, above, says only 57 of the 122 testing centers will remain open during the second extension. After inspecting some testing centers, Nip said the government had decided on a further extension - in line with the original plan of 14 days. "We have looked into the usage of the current 122 community testing centers and the needs of districts [and decided that] 57 testing centers will continue to operate between September 12 to 14," Nip said. Centers with over 95 percent usage over the past few days will continue to operate, Nip said, adding that each of the 18 districts will have testing centers. "From operational experience, [a community testing program is] effective in finding and identifying those infected in the community, including asymptomatic cases, as well as in containing the epidemic," he said.
