Chairwoman of New People's Party Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee received a second suspected threat letter within the week, following the first one she got on Wednesday. Ip said on social media that she got the second suspected threat letter on Friday evening as she went home after campaigning on the streets. The second letter, like the first one which contained rotten meat, was a yellowish envelope. Ip in the coming Legislative Council election will run in the Hong Kong Island West geographical constituency. Also running in this sector, pro-democracy district councilors Fong Lung-fei and Chan Hok-fung from the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong.
