Selective strategies key amid energy price surgeThailand's equity market is bracing for renewed cost pressures as energy prices surge, echoing patterns seen during earlier stages of the Russia-Ukraine war, with analysts urging selective positioning amid rising inflation risks, says Bualuang Securities (BLS). Higher energy costs pose near-term downside risks to corporate earnings, said Piriyapon Kongvanich, head of equity research at BLS. SELECTIVE BUYSBLS recommends focusing on selective plays with limited energy exposure, strong pricing power and recovery catalysts. Dividend-supported plays offer near-term yield support, said Mr Piriyapon, with BBL, WHA and KBANK suggested to help cushion downside volatility. "In a rising cost environment, resilience will depend not on broad market exposure but on discipline and selective positioning," said Mr Piriyapon.
