The Senate on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Justice Joseph Oyewole as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. The confirmation followed the consideration of a report by the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, chaired by Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire (APC, Ondo Central). Presenting the report, Adegbonmire urged the Senate to receive and adopt the committee’s findings on the nomination of Justice Oyewole, a Justice of the Court of Appeal. Justice Joseph Olubunmi Kayode Oyewole as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.”President Bola Tinubu had last Tuesday forwarded a letter to the Senate seeking Oyewole’s confirmation in line with Section 231(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). Justice Oyewole Kayode as Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.”Afterwards, Akpabio referred the request to the Judiciary Committee for screening and report, which culminated in Tuesday’s confirmation.
