Senators apologize for unilingual anthem Saturday

The Ottawa Senators have issued an apology for an English-only version of ‘O Canada’ before Saturday’s visit by the Montreal Canadiens to the Canadian Tire Centre to close out the pre-season. Nicolas Ruszkowski, the club’s new chief operating officer, posted the apology on the club’s twitter account with a letter late Sunday night. “I was at the game and I was one of the first to complain about this,” Ruszkowski wrote to the fan base. “It has always been a policy of the Ottawa Senators to present a bilingual version of the national anthem, which we always do without fault.”Ruszkowski, who is bilingual wrote he was “grateful to the members of the Francophone community who took the time to tell me of their concerns”, said the mistake was the fault of human error. We are genuinely sorry for this mistake and can assure you this will not happen again.”The Senators open the season Thursday night against the Chicago Blackhawks at home.
