THE Penang Smart Parking System plan may be well-received by most drivers but senior citizens are not too keen on relying on technology to pay for parking at council lots. Among them was septuagenarian Albert Cheah, who opined that the new system would not make paying for parking “any easier” for senior citizens like him. “The new system will gel well with youths but many senior citizens are not that tech-savvy. ‘How are they going to pay for parking at council lots?” said Cheah said when contacted recently. Smart parking sensors will also be installed at each lot to monitor the entry and exit of vehicles.
