Chandrasekaran, 69, was residing with his family in a two-storey apartment located on Mounasamy Madam street in Ambattur OT. On Saturday night, he had retired to the bedroom when the floor suddenly started to sink. Hearing his cries for help, his wife Uma, who was in the kitchen, rushed to his assistance, but she also fell into the pit. A senior police officer said Chandrasekaran, a retired insurance officer, his wife Uma, son Vishwanathan and daughter-in-law Bhuvana were living on the ground floor.
