Ufrillitarian. The only thing ridiculous about it is the name, which — I imagine you will be unsurprised to learn — I have just conjured up. Utilitarian clothing with bells on or, more usually, frills, embroidery, sequins, beading. It may be a khaki jacket embroidered out of services-style simplicity into specialness (such as the multicoloured beauty in Miss Selfridge’s Premium range, reduced to £47 from £95, missselfridge.com). Or perhaps a pair of ramped-up chinos, be they 35 quid (from jdwilliams.co.uk) or well over a grand (from Dolce & Gabbana, reduced to £1,365 from £1,950, mytheresa.com).
