Surrounding that will be a broad area of more scattered severe weather potential that could affect places such as New Orleans, Mobile, Ala., and Springfield, Mo. Looking aheadIn the medium range, signals continue to suggest that the recent spate of severe weather is merely the start of a prolonged active pattern and what’s likely to be a busy severe weather season. ADAfter Thursday, high pressure and drier air building over much of the Lower 48 will bring a dip in severe weather chances over the weekend.
