More than a million people will wake up in South Yorkshire today to a Tier 3 lockdown with socialising banned outdoors and pubs and bars forced to shut apart from to customers eating a "substantial meal". Some were seen with drinks in the street, as other groups of party-goers linked arms as they posed for pictures. Crowds of revellers were seen congregating outside venues, as the city joins Liverpool, Lancashire and Manchester in Tier 3 today. Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster will also be hit with the strict measures today, brought in to stem the spread of coronavirus. Also today, three more areas - Coventry, Stoke and Slough - have now also moved into Tier 2, the second highest alert level.
