Shortly before Christmas, the consultation on establishing a new body for “securing student success” in higher education, will close. The proposed Office for Students (OfS) will, subject to the consultation, introduce a “risk-based” regulatory approach for “teaching excellence, social mobility and informed choice in higher education”. The aim of the new structures is to ensure Britain is “delivering positive outcomes for students (of all backgrounds) past, present and future”. “Everyone should be able to study at an institution that meets their needs”, the document contends, and the desire is that the “sector delivers positive outcomes for all students”.
