ANAHEIM, Calif. — Shohei Ohtani is the master of backing up his words. The two-way ace, after a rain-abbreviated start in Boston, accomplished his goal Friday, walking only two while striking out 11 in a 2-0 Angels win. Against a struggling Kansas City team that was 4-15 heading into Friday, Ohtani quickly foreshadowed the damage he’d inflict on the Royals. Ohtani confounded batters with six different pitches, adding to what’s shaping up to be another memorable season for the 2021 American League MVP. Angels manager Phil Nevin explained that the team did not have a substantial update on O’Hoppe’s condition.
