KARACHI: Sindh government on the directives of Sindh High Court (SHC) on Saturday constituted a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe into the May 12, 2007, carnage and a notification for that purpose was issued. According to the notification, the JIT will reinvestigate the May 12 case and submit its report within 2 weeks to Sindh High Court. On September 11, SHC had ordered the formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) to investigate the violent riots. Irked by the absence of court facilitators in the high court, SHC Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh constituted a two-member special bench comprising Justice KK Agha and Justice Iqbal Kalhoro to further the proceedings. However, the high court rejected the report and sought a report from the Legal DIG and the concerned authorities by June 22.
