Singapore Airlines: Singapore-Mumbai flight's landing at wrong airport averted

MUMBAI: The Mumbai-bound flight of Singapore Airlines mistakenly made an approach to land at Juhu airport on Monday morning. "The Singapore pilot was in touch with the Mumbai air traffic control and the flight was supposed to make an approach for runway 09 of the Mumbai airport. At no time did the pilots of SQ 422 mistake Juhu airport as Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. "In the past there have been quite a few instances of mistaken landings. On 15 July 1953, a BOAC DH.106 Comet landed at Juhu airport instead of the much larger Mumbai airport. Then on 24 September 1972, a Japan Airlines operated Douglas DC-8 landed at Juhu instead of Mumbai.
