The ban, as per the official notification, is on plastic bags with thickness up to 50 microns thick, but a senior official said they are trying to eradicate the use of plastic bags altogether. It has until now seized over 1,000 kg of plastic bags, they said. The civic body has prohibited the use of single-use plastic items such as bottles, cups, glasses, and polythene bags and plastic items with thickness less than 50 microns due to environmental concerns.
