Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi addressed his citizens on Sunday, amid escalating regional tensions and concerns about security and economic repercussions following the US-Israeli assault on Iran. Egypt has made “sincere efforts over the past months to avert the crisis, bridge gaps, and mediate between the US and Iran to reach an agreement,” he said. Addressing his citizens, he added, “The closure of the Strait of Hormuz will affect oil flows and prices. The Egyptian state and government must study all possibilities and different scenarios. We have been careful to take the necessary precautions, I assure you.
