Scotland, for their part, were left to rue a couple of expensive mistakes in the opening half when they had the strong wind behind them. Ireland enjoyed a strong start which Crowley, much to the delight of the big Cork following in the crowd of almost 5,000, got in for his opening try after a superb break by centre Dan Kelly. But Scotland, who finished with 14 men when replacement winger Rufus McLean was binned for a clumsy challenge in the air on impressive Irish full-back Oran McNulty, didn’t give up. Scorers — Ireland: Tries: J Crowley (2),T Clarkson, A Smith, T Ahern, J McKee. Scotland: Tries: E Ashman, N Chamberlain, J Blain, C Scott.
