DHAKA, Jan 15, 2026 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) today began the sixth day of hearings on appeals related to candidacy for the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election. The hearings against the decisions of returning officers over acceptance and rejection of nomination papers started at 10:00am this morning at the auditorium of the Election Building in the city’s Agargaon area. On the fifth day of hearings yesterday, a total of 100 appeals were taken up, of which 73 were allowed, 17 were rejected and 10 were kept pending. EC Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said that hearings on a total of 380 appeals have been completed over the past five days from Saturday to Wednesday. A total of 645 appeals were filed with the Election Commission challenging the decisions on acceptance and rejection of nomination papers in this election.
