But the match improved markedly after the break, and it was Maidenhead that gave the contest some much-needed impetus. They pressed forward on the flanks through Smith and Mitchell-Lawson and the pair combined to break the deadlock just before the hour mark. United lost the influential Mitchell-Lawson to injury, but Zico Asare came on for him and deputised well on the right flank. Dagenham stepped up their efforts in the final 25 minutes, but the Maidenhead defence held strong.
